Wood, Clay, Sphagnum Moss
approx. 230 x 200 x 75 cm

Ogenstedt’s sculptures, crafted from grass, moss and clay, embody a lifelike quality, resembling natural growth and transformation. The title of the work,  Fühler (Antennas), encompass a nuanced duality, symbolising not only the literal concept of antennas or feelers in the natural world, but also extending into the metaphorical realm, where it serves as a poignant expression of probing, exploring and seeking deeper understanding in a figurative sense. The clay, with its dual nature of hardness and malleability, can be understood as illustrative of a geological process, continually evolving in responsive to water availability. The inclusion of the Sphagnum moss, native to the Northern Hemisphere and historically utilised for wound dressing due to its absorbent and acidic nature, adds a dynamic element. These materials collectively symbolise a constant cycle of change and renewal, waiting for the next opportunity, be it rain, river, or a geological shift.
