Blåvandshuk is the westernmost point of Denmark. The sea reaches the headland from both sides and the tide transports sand in such a way that the coastline is constantly redefined. What was land yesterday, is sea tomorrow and the landscape is in a state of flux. Reed is a reflection of the natural and cultural context of the coastal land, where reed grows and is a common feature in local building traditions.
Gata is Old Norse and means “road” or “path” but can also be connected with the English word “gate.” The gate marks the border between land and sea and the transition from familiar to unexpected.
