Dirtthrow was created in July 2019, during the week of Kjerringøy Land Art Biennale, Norway. It is a visceral and intimate work that I built on-site in the middle of the mire, using materials that were available within a twenty-meter-radius. The mire is both dry and wet, an in-between, a place of transition. An open space within the forest where events may happen. A tree is thrown down by the wind and the roots are unearthed and made visible. In the title, the materials that I used in the building process are defined and declared. They are materials that I connect and associate with the mire, the forest and that relate to the arctic landscape around the polar circle.

Eventually, it will sink into the mire from which it was built. It might happen long after we are gone, or more likely, it already did.
